4. Bryan Bulaga

I must admit, I have a little less certainty with this one, based on Bryan Bulaga‘s long injury history and his age. The Packers often move on from players around age 30. Mike Daniels is 30 and was released this week. Josh Sitton was 30 when the Packers released him ahead of the 2016 season. Bulaga turned 30 in March.

But as long as Bulaga continues to play close to an elite level, it will be difficult for the Packers to let him walk. According to Pro Football Focus, in Bulaga’s final 136 pass blocks of the 2018 season, he allowed zero pressures. Yes, zero. Bulaga is still one of the best tackles in the NFL for pass protection.

Giving Bulaga a long-term deal next offseason might not be realistic, but is it possible he signs a one-year contract in 2020? Unless another team is willing to offer him big money, it can’t be ruled out.

Also, if Bulaga leaves, who would be the replacement? Would the Packers have to turn to free agency or the draft to find a replacement? One option is Billy Turner, who could be the long-term starter at right tackle, even if he plays guard this season.

But if Bulaga continues to play so well, offering him a one or two-year deal at the end of the year would make a ton of sense.
