Teo Redding

On offense, few had a better night than Teo Redding. Redding led the team in catches, as well as receiving yards (four catches, 49 yards). It was just too little too late.

Much like Markus Jones, there just isn’t a place on the roster for Redding. Also like Jones, Redding could find a spot on the practice squad.

The receiver position has as much talent as any position on the roster. Based off the inactives for the game, outside of injury (Allen Lazard and Equanimeous St. Brown) and the starters (Davante Adams, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, and Geronimo Allison), Jake Kumerow was also given the night off.

After Trevor Davis’ quick exit, it’s safe to say his position is also safe. That leaves five positions spoken with maybe one more open for receivers. What makes things tricky are the injuries to St. Brown and Lazard. St. Brown was a core special-teamer while Lazard was making a strong bid for a roster berth. St. Brown will likely be out a minimum four weeks and Lazard’s status is unknown.

If the Packers want to place one or both on injured reserve and have them return this season, they will have to be on the initial 53-man roster. So Redding’s late showing wasn’t enough to make the opening day roster.

Darrius Shepherd may have just fumbled away his chance. Number one priority is ball security. For an undrafted rookie, it’s priority one, two, and three. We’ll see if a solid summer is wiped away for one mistake.
