Safeties (4)

Adrian Amos, Darnell Savage, Raven Greene, Will Redmond

It was clear Adrian Amos, Darnell Savage and Raven Greene were the top three at safety, the question was who would make the roster as the fourth safety. The answer is Will Redmond. The Packers released Tray Matthews and Natrell Jamerson.

Don’t be surprised if we see Ibraheim Campbell at some point this season. He played well at the end of 2018 before getting injured. He starts the season on the PUP list and will miss at least six weeks, but he could be an important player later in the season.

Specialists (3)

Mason Crosby, JK Scott, Hunter Bradley

The competition at kicker has come to an end. The Packers decided to go with veteran Mason Crosby, waiving Sam Ficken. It was a competitive battle between the two and neither player made too many mistakes.

Experience had to been the tiebreaker here. With Crosby, the Packers have a kicker who has been there and done it in just about every situation imaginable no matter the conditions. He’s consistently made kicks at crucial times. Ficken is only 26 years old, and despite his talent, hasn’t got that experience yet.

The big question now is whether the Packers will end up playing against Ficken on Thursday night. The Bears may be searching for a kicker.

No other surprises here with JK Scott and Hunter Bradley making the team as expected.
