4. Kevin King

Carson Wentz had a pretty good game. He was by no means perfect, but he didn’t have to be as the run game dominated Green Bay’s defense. But one player he seemed to have no luck throwing against was Kevin King. King was a thorn in Alshon Jeffery‘s side all game long before leaving with a groin injury.

Twice, King knocked away points from Jeffery and the Eagles, as well as breaking up a deep pass in the third quarter.

This is what is great about having players like King and Jaire Alexander. A week after shutting down the Broncos receivers with Alexander, King took his turn facing the top option. The Packers have two solid options to face off against the other team’s number one.

Alexander is just at the five-foot-10 mark, while King is six-foot-three and can hold up against the bigger, more physical receivers.

As we saw, defensive coordinator Mike Pettine allowed King to follow Jeffery around all game long, and with good results. In fact, on Jeffery’s touchdown, he was lined up inside against Alexander and not King.

King’s status will bear watching during the week. He battled a hamstring injury all preseason and now has a groin injury. The defense is much better with him and Alexander in the lineup. The teams are getting better and having King will help shut them down.
