Three takeaways from Packers’ win vs. Raiders in Week 7
3. Receivers step up in big day for offense
A lot was made about the injuries at wide receiver. Davante Adams didn’t play. And the question was, even if Geronimo Allison and Marquez Valdes-Scantling could go, would they be at 100 percent?
Yet even without Adams, the Packers’ pass catchers stepped up.
Jake Kumerow made one of the plays of the day right on halftime, making an excellent catch before staying in bounds to make it a 37-yard touchdown. MVS also battled through injury to make two receptions including a spectacular 74-yard touchdown. Jimmy Graham played well with four catches for 65 yards and a touchdown.
Geronimo Allison caught four passes. Allen Lazard caught three. Running backs Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams combined for eight receptions, with Jones making one of the catches of the game on his touchdown. Even fullback Danny Vitale made a difference with two catches for 43 yards.
And head coach Matt LaFleur also deserves a lot of credit. On many occasions, Rodgers threw the ball to a receiver who was wide open with room to run. Some excellent play-calling by LaFleur.
And such a big performance by this offense, without Davante Adams. This offense is beginning to click and has been on fire in recent games. Soon, they will have Adams back on the field.
