1. Wide receiver

Brian Gutekunst recognized a potential need at wide receiver in his first offseason by drafting three on the draft’s final day. But the production hasn’t been there. J’Mon Moore is no longer on the team, while Marquez Valdes-Scantling has been inconsistent in his second season. It’s hard to judge Equanimeous St. Brown, who has missed the entire season due to injury.

MVS leads the Packers in receiving this season, but Adams is only one yard behind first place and he’s missed four games due to injury.

But even with EQ returning next year, bringing in more pass-catching options for Aaron Rodgers should be a top priority in the offseason. That might be a tight end, as noted earlier. Adding a wide receiver to complement Davante Adams would also make a lot of sense in the draft.

The Packers missed out at the trade deadline with Emmanuel Sanders joining the San Francisco 49ers, and Mohamed Sanu being traded to the New England Patriots.

Most of the top receivers set to hit free agency — including Amari Cooper — will be re-signed before free agency. The good news is the 2020 draft class is deep at wide receiver, so the Packers should avoid overpaying in free agency unless it’s for a star player, and instead look for help on offense in the early rounds next April.
