Packers vs. Panthers: Tale of the tape for Week 10 matchup
Quarterbacks
Packers
With the exception of last week, Aaron Rodgers has been on a tear this season. He has been popping up in MVP conversations and has been the FedEx Air Player of the Week twice this season.
Last week, Rodgers had a very hard time. He finished the game with just 161 yards and a touchdown. He is, however, still on pace for over 4,500 yards and 30 touchdown passes. Assuming the last game against the Chargers was just a blip, I’d expect Rodgers to be back to being the guy we’ve seen the past few weeks.
Adding a healthy Davante Adams will be a nice boost too. Adams played last week but admitted that he still wasn’t fully healthy. With another week for Adams to get healthy and get more acclimated with the offense again, Rodgers will have another big weapon at his disposal against the Panthers.
Panthers
The Panthers will continue to roll with backup and possible future starter Kyle Allen. He has started in the place of Cam Newton while he’s been out due to injury. This week, the Panthers put Newton on injured reserve, ending his season and possibly ending his time with the Panthers as well.
Allen has started in six games this season and is 5-1 in those six games. He’s been playing pretty well. He has thrown for 1,291 yards, nine touchdowns, and just four interceptions. He’s been as solid as you could ask from a backup and could very well be earning a shot at the starting spot next season too.
Something Allen hasn’t done is play in cold weather. He’s played in Arizona, Houston, Tampa Bay, San Francisco, and Carolina. He’ll have to play in Green Bay this Sunday where the weather is currently calling for a high of 35 degrees.
With the way Rodgers has been playing most of the season and the fact that the game is in Green Bay, where Rodgers is very hard to beat, I have to give the nod to Rodgers.
