Packers: Three biggest challenges in final six games of season
3. Three straight divisional games
It doesn’t get much more challenging than a run of divisional opponents. In many ways, it doesn’t matter what the records of the opponents are. These are the teams that know each other the most, often leading to close games.
In the final three weeks of the season, the Packers play the Chicago Bears at home, then are on the road against the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions. Win all three and the division will almost certainly be theirs. The Packers are currently a perfect 3-0 in the division, but it won’t be easy to replicate that success in the second meetings with each opponent. Particularly with two of those games being played on the road.
The San Francisco 49ers won two close games against the Arizona Cardinals in the space of three weeks. Their position in the standings couldn’t be much further apart, but these are divisional games and the Cardinals were competitive home and away. How about the Cleveland Browns winning on the road against the Baltimore Ravens earlier in the season?
Winning against opponents in the division is never easy. Playing division games in three consecutive weeks late in the season will be a big challenge for this team. But if they win all three, it’ll set them up nicely with momentum for the playoffs.
