Sign Robby Anderson

Amari Cooper signed a mega-deal to stay with the Dallas Cowboys, while former Packer Randall Cobb has agreed to a deal with the Houston Texans. But outside of these two signings, the wide receiver market has been quiet.

The draft class is strong at wide receiver, but that doesn’t mean the Packers should avoid adding an experienced pass catcher via free agency. After missing out on Austin Hooper, the top tight end available, it’s possible they could go after the best remaining wide receiver.

Anderson, who averages 14.8 yards per reception in his career and has a combined 18 touchdown catches over the past three seasons, would be an ideal signing for the Packers. Quite quickly, Brian Gutekunst could turn a weakness at wide receiver into a strength. Davante Adams and Anderson would be up there with the NFL’s best receiving tandems. Add in an early draft pick and Allen Lazard, and Aaron Rodgers would be surrounded with talent.

Price could certainly be a concern. Cooper’s huge deal with the Cowboys could drive up the price of the remaining free-agent receivers, although working in the Packers’ favor is the fact the draft class is so talented. Also, the Packers have the cap room to make one big splash in free agency, as their reported interest in Austin Hooper suggests.

Anderson could make a big impact in Green Bay’s offense.
