Rounds 3 – 5

Round 3 (94): WR Van Jefferson – Florida

Finally, getting a receiver but not until the third round. I think the Packers adding Funchess was not necessarily exciting, but it makes the receiver group better. He adds size that Aaron Rodgers hasn’t had in a while at the position. He will be a big target in the red zone.

The Packers have Davante Adams, Funchess and Allen Lazard. All three are pretty much outside receivers. Adams can obviously play just about anywhere, but they need a slot receiver. Van Jefferson would be a good choice.

Lance Zierlein wrote that Jefferson “has played all three receiver spots but is likely to do most of his damage from the slot”.

The only thing Jefferson lacks is speed. He won’t be a burner, which is something the Packers need, but he will provide a reliable receiver in the slot who can run solid routes and provide another weapon for Rodgers.

Round 4 (136): DL Jordan Elliot – Missouri

It was pretty apparent last season in the NFC Championship game when 49ers running back Raheem Mostert ran for 220 yards, that the Packers needed to add something to the defensive line. Kenny Clark can’t do it by himself. Dean Lowry just got an extension and is a decent piece, but other than those two, no one else stood out. Kingsley Keke may take a step in his second year, but the Packers still need to add some more pieces to the line.

Jordan Elliot is a good player who the Packers may be able to snag in the middle of the draft. He is versatile and would be a good defensive end for the Packers. He would provide more depth and could possibly even become the starter during the season.

Round 5 (175): TE Harrison Bryant – Florida Atlantic

The Packers are banking on Jace Sternberger big time this upcoming season. They wisely let Jimmy Graham go and brought back Marcedes Lewis for another year. Outside of those two, they have Robert Tonyan and Evan Baylis.

Harrison Bryant had an extremely productive 2019 season. He won the Mackey Award for the best tight end in the country and had more receiving yards than any other tight end in the NCAA last season. He had 1,004 yards with seven touchdowns. The next most productive tight end was Brycen Hopkins from Purdue, who had 830 yards and seven touchdowns.

Between he and Sternberger, the Packers could have quite a pass-catching tandem at tight end for the next few years.
