Round 3 (91): Jordan Elliott, DL, Missouri

Another around, another trade up. With Missouri defensive lineman Jordan Elliott still available at No. 91, I sent an offer to the Las Vegas Raiders to move up.

With the additions of Queen and Kirksey to the middle of the defense, the Packers would be much-improved against the run and defending receivers in the middle of the field. But an area they would still need to improve is the defensive line. That will also be key to getting stronger against the run.

That’s where Elliott can help.

While he would help the Packers improve against the run, he’d also offer some interior pass rush, which is important in Mike Pettine’s defense. According to Pro Football Focus, Elliott had a pass-rush grade of 91.4 since 2017, which is first among all defensive tackles in this year’s class.

Kenny Clark would get some much-needed help along the defensive line and, overall, the Packers’ front-seven would be greatly improved after the opening three rounds.

By addressing three key needs in the opening two days of the draft, the Packers would then be able to use their mid-to-late-round picks on strengthening the depth at other positions, such as cornerback. While it may be unlikely they’ll make three trades in as many rounds as in this mock, Gutekunst has already shown he’s more than happy to make big moves.
