Round 2 (46): Brandon Aiyuk, WR, Arizona State

Brandon Aiyuk should be a first-rounder. But there’s a good chance he won’t be as this is a particularly deep wide receiver class. That could be great news for the Packers. In this scenario, they trade down from No. 30 overall to No. 46, receiving a third-round pick from the Denver Broncos in exchange. Denver gets to jump up into the first round, which brings the added benefit of a fifth-year option.

With a number of talented prospects still on the board but the very best wide receivers all gone, it made sense to move down. And with Aiyuk still on the board at No. 46, this was an easy decision.

Aiyuk has the ability to pick up yards on his own by refusing to go down after initial contact. His yards-after-catch talent would be greatly welcomed in the Packers offense. Just how good was Aiyuk after the catch at Arizona State? According to Pro Football Focus, he averaged an incredible 9.9 yards after the catch during his time there.

If there’s one receiver slipping under the radar in mocks drafts early in the first round, it’s Aiyuk. He would make a great choice at No. 30 for the Packers. But at No. 46, this was a dream start to the mock draft.
