3. Curtis Samuel, Carolina Panthers

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Curtis Samuel could’ve been traded during the draft. Rapoport reported that the Carolina Panthers “have been open to deals this offseason”, and that Samuel was a “name to watch”. A move didn’t happen during the draft but Gutekunst should pick up the phone to see if the Panthers would still be open to trading him.

And the move could make sense for Carolina. After signing Robby Anderson in free agency and following D.J. Moore’s breakout season in 2019, Samuel has fallen down the depth chart. He also only has one year remaining on his contract.

Samuel could become Green Bay’s number two wide receiver. He has great speed and ran a 4.31-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine three years ago. He can line up at various positions and is effective on end-arounds and picking up yards after the catch.

With the Panthers last season, Samuel finished with 627 receiving yards and six touchdowns, along with 130 rushing yards and a touchdown. He averaged 11.6 yards per reception.

If the Panthers are still open to trading Samuel, the Packers should make it happen. He’s still only 23 years old and can make an immediate difference in Matt LaFleur’s offense.
