Packers: Three wide receivers they should trade for this offseason
1. Robert Woods, Los Angeles Rams
The Los Angeles Rams need to free up some salary cap room. According to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, the Rams have just $419,169 remaining in cap room following the draft, which is the lowest in the NFL. One way to help that would be to release or trade a player.
For the Packers, adding a receiver as talented as Robert Woods would be huge. While the Rams traded away Brandin Cooks earlier this offseason, they used a second-round pick on Van Jefferson. With Cooper Kupp entering his fourth season, the Rams have a strong wide receiver corps.
Woods is an underrated player. He’s put up consecutive 1,000-yard seasons with the Rams and has become a reliable target for Jared Goff. Drops have been an issue for Packers receivers not named Davante Adams, but this is no concern with Woods. According to PlayerProfiler.com, he had a true catch rate of 89.1 percent last season with just one drop.
The Packers would be getting a consistent, talented wide receiver who, at 28 years old, is in the prime of his career. He’d be a perfect number two option in this offense alongside Adams. Devin Funchess and Allen Lazard would provide good depth.
The Rams might not be willing to trade Woods but if they are, Brian Gutekunst needs to do all he can to make a deal.
