Safeties (4)

Adrian Amos, Darnell Savage, Raven Greene, Vernon Scott

The Packers successfully fixed the safety position, which was one of their biggest offseason needs a year ago.

Free-agent addition Adrian Amos played in all 16 games, making 84 tackles, eight pass defenses, and two interceptions. First-round pick Darnell Savage made 14 starts, making 55 tackles, five pass defenses, and two interceptions. Savage was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team.

Both players made key plays throughout the season. Amos made one of the most memorable plays of the season, intercepting former teammate Mitch Trubisky to effectively clinch a road victory over the Chicago Bears in the season opener. That’s not a moment any of us will be forgetting anytime soon. Savage also came up with a couple of takeaways in a strong rookie season.

Raven Greene will likely be the Packers’ backup safety entering the 2020 season. He only played in two games last year due to injury.

A question over training camp will be who replaces Ibraheim Campbell, who has signed with the Tennessee Titans. Will Redmond and rookie Vernon Scott are the top two candidates for a roster spot, but I’m gone with Scott, a seventh-round pick in last month’s draft.

Overall, the Packers are well set at safety with a strong starting duo of Amos and Savage.
