Tight ends (4)

Jace Sternberger, Marcedes Lewis, Robert Tonyan, Josiah Deguara

Jimmy Graham is no longer with the Packers and he’ll now be catching passes from Nick Foles in Chicago.

That means an increased role for second-year Jace Sternberger, a third-round pick by the Packers a year ago. Sternberger spoke to Peter Bukowski of the Locked On Packers podcast earlier this offseason and said he expects to play more in the slot this season.

Sternberger showed his potential as a pass-catcher in this offense during the playoffs. In the two postseason games, he caught all three of his targets for 15 yards and a touchdown. Sternberger didn’t catch a pass in the six regular-season games he played but was wide open on multiple occasions. He had missed the first half of the year due to injury.

Re-signing Marcedes Lewis was the right call. Lewis, along with rookie Josiah Deguara, will play important roles in the run game. They can both also catch passes.

Robert Tonyan has also shown potential as a pass-catcher. After suffering an injury early in the season against the Dallas Cowboys, Tonyan lost some momentum and struggled to make a big impact when he returned. But he’ll be a player to watch.

Overall, this is an unproven tight end group but with a lot of potential.
