G Cole Madison

A fifth-round pick by the Packers two years ago, the hope was that Cole Madison would go onto become a starter or top backup at guard. He still might, but Madison will need a strong training camp to avoid being cut before playing a snap.

Madison has had a lot to deal with over the past two years and it would be great to see him take a big step over the summer. But first, he needs to recover fully from a torn ACL than landed him on injured reserve last season.

But with so much competition for roster spots along the offensive line, it’s going to be difficult for Madison to make the initial 53. This offseason, the Packers decided against releasing Lane Taylor, who instead agreed to take a pay cut. Green Bay then picked three offensive linemen on Day 3 of the draft back in April. All three likely project as interior linemen.

Including rookie Jake Hanson, who hasn’t officially signed his deal yet, the Packers have 17 offensive linemen under contract for 2020. And with the starting five spots along the line likely set, Madison will need to put together a strong training camp and preseason to have a shot at making the roster.
