Packers: Stealing one player from each NFC East team
Philadelphia Eagles: TE Zach Ertz
This selection was the second easiest behind Chase Young. The Packers desperately need another target and weapon for Aaron Rodgers, and tight end Zach Ertz would be that guy. He has reliable hands, and caught 88 passes for 916 yards and six touchdowns a year ago.
MORE: Five bold predictions for the Packers, NFC North
After having a seemingly endless revolving door of tight ends coming in and out of Green Bay ever since Jermichael Finley departed years ago after injuries plagued his career, Ertz could be that second go-to guy for Rodgers and take the load off of star receiver Davante Adams. The Eagles have not necessarily been blessed with outstanding receivers as of late, but Ertz has remained that steady hand in their offense for Carson Wentz to throw to.
Also, I think Jace Sternberger would benefit from a secondary role behind Ertz. Sternberger has a bright future in Green Bay, but he is not nearly the caliber of tight end that Ertz is at the moment. I could see the Packers lining up in some two-tight end sets and also using both Sternberger and Ertz to enforce the edge for the run game. Selecting Ertz from Philadelphia just seems like the right fit to me.
