Five reasons why the Packers will be NFC North champions again in 2020.

The previous four NFC North champions have all failed to retain their title the following season. That includes the Green Bay Packers when they won the division in 2016. But that’s all about to change. The Packers will retain their NFC North crown this season, and I’ve got five reasons why.

That’s not to say it will be easy. Far from it. The competition in this division will be strong again this year. We already know how good the Minnesota Vikings are, and they’ve added talent on both sides of the ball in the offseason. But a team to watch closely will be the Detroit Lions. They added well in the offseason and could take a big step forward this year. It’s a make-or-break season for head coach Matt Patricia.

The Packers enter 2020 as the team to beat in this division. While they were embarrassed in the NFC Championship Game, their path to that round was anything but. Matt LaFleur’s team entered the postseason with a 13-3 record and first-round bye and then secured a victory over the Seattle Seahawks to make it to the NFC’s final two.

Even with a potentially much-improved Lions team, and two more possible playoff contenders with the Vikings and Chicago Bears, it’s the Packers that will win the NFC North for the second year in a row. Here’s why.
