Linebackers (9)

OLB: Za’Darius Smith, Preston Smith, Rashan Gary, Randy Ramsey, Jonathan Garvin

ILB: Christian Kirksey, Kamal Martin, Oren Burks, Ty Summers

It’s great to see rookie edge rusher Jonathan Garvin make the 53-man roster after a strong summer. He’s going to be a player to watch this season. It was a surprise that Randy Ramsey made the roster ahead of Tim Williams. Overall, the Packers should feel good about their depth at edge rusher.

Rookie Kamal Martin makes the 53 but one has to wonder whether he’ll be placed on injured reserve after needing knee surgery. The good news about him making the 53 is that going on IR wouldn’t necessarily end his season.

Cornerbacks (6)

Jaire Alexander, Kevin King, Chandon Sullivan, Josh Jackson, Ka’dar Hollman, Kabion Ento

Similarly, Kabion Ento reportedly suffered a broken foot and could miss some time. But by making the 53, it shows the Packers think he can help the team later in the season even if he has to go on IR. For now, that means undrafted rookie Stanford Samuels misses out despite impressing during the summer.

Safeties (5)

Adrian Amos, Darnell Savage, Raven Greene, Will Redmond, Vernon Scott

Vernon Scott’s performances over the summer forced the Packers to keep five safeties, and they have to be excited about their depth at this position. Raven Greene’s return is great news for the Packers; he just needs to stay healthy.

Special teams (3)

Mason Crosby, JK Scott, Hunter Bradley

Continuity is key here, and the Packers bring back the team trio at kicker, punter, and long snapper as a year ago.
