Packers: 3 bold predictions for Week 2 game vs. Lions
3. Jaire Alexander has a pick-six
Even if Peterson does play well, at some point the Lions will likely need to lean on Matthew Stafford and throw the football more often. If the Packers get ahead in this game, which given how well Rodgers looked last week along with the Lions’ defensive injuries, is very possible, Stafford will need to step up.
In his first game back from an injury that kept him out of the second half of the 2019 season, Stafford was far from his best. He completed 57 percent of his passes for 297 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Stafford was without his number one wide receiver Kenny Golladay; it remains to be seen whether he’ll return in Week 2.
Jaire Alexander had an All-Pro performance in Week 1, finishing the game with a sack, safety, and interception. In his third season, the hope is Alexander continues to make these game-changing plays for the Packers. On Sunday, I predict he’ll have another one.
With the Lions playing catch-up and trying to stay in the game, Stafford takes a risk. Alexander makes the play and not only does he catch his second interception of the season, but he also takes this one back for a touchdown, putting the game away.
