2. The Lions have forgotten how to win games

It’s been 329 days since the Lions last won a game. Since then, they’ve lost 10 in a row, a stretch that continued into last week’s season opener. It’s not like they haven’t had opportunities to pick up a few wins, either.

Under Matt Patricia, the Lions have made a habit of throwing away big leads in the fourth quarter. It happened twice against the Packers last season. Detroit threw away nine- and 14-point leads against Green Bay in 2019.

In the season opener last season against the Arizona Cardinals, the Lions led 24-6 in the fourth quarter but somehow tied the game. Last week, they led the Bears 23-6 when the fourth quarter started. They lost the game.

Under Patricia, the Lions have lost far more games than they’ve won and a few have come from positions they simply can’t lose from.

For the Packers under LaFleur, it’s been quite the opposite. This team has the confidence it can close out tight games and come from behind late when they need to. Including the playoffs, the Packers are 15-4 under LaFleur.

The Lions have been in a number of close games over the past 329 days; the same could be true on Sunday. However, whereas the Packers know how to close out these games, the Lions rarely seem to get over the line.
