3. Allen Lazard

This game could become a battle of two generational quarterbacks and their young star running backs: Rodgers and Jones versus Brees and Kamara.

Those four players will take top billing in this Sunday night showdown. What will be the difference is the role players on offense.

This was where Allen Lazard will shine once again. One of the other players who stepped up in a big way in Adams’ absence last year was Lazard. He gained the trust of his quarterback and made a big play a game.

Lazard is now the number two guy and depending on Adams’ availability, could be the number one this week. Even if Adams plays, you can bet the Saints’ game plan will be to make sure it is not Adams who beats them in the passing game.

That means there should be one-on-one opportunities for Lazard, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling for that matter as well.

If the Packers can move Lazard around and find favorable matchups, he could be in for a monster game.

This will be Lazard’s chance to shine in primetime. He came through big on a Monday night against the Lions last season, let’s see if he can do it in the marquee game of Week 3.
