Packers: 3 bold predictions for Week 4 game vs. Falcons
2. Marquez Valdes-Scantling has a breakout performance
With Rodgers throwing five touchdowns, he’s going to need some targets. Unfortunately, even if Adams does return this week, it’s possible the Packers will be without Allen Lazard, who is coming off a career-best performance against the New Orleans Saints in Week 3. Lazard didn’t practice on Thursday due to a core injury, and that’s always a concern.
If Lazard is out, the Packers will need Marquez Valdes-Scantling to step up. Overall, MVS has made a solid start to the season with eight catches for 165 yards and a touchdown in three games, but he only had one catch for five yards against the Saints last week.
There have been some encouraging signs with Valdes-Scantling’s performances early in the season. He’s already made some huge plays for this offense, including a 45-yard touchdown catch in the season opener. MVS has also had a couple of drops on plays he should’ve made, but he was in position and had done the hard part; he just needs to make the catch.
This week, my prediction is that he does exactly that. With his speed, MVS regularly gets behind the Falcons secondary and makes the defense pay. After a couple of good performances to start the season, Valdes-Scantling has a breakout performance in Week 4.
