Cornerback is arguably the Packers’ biggest offseason need with Kevin King set to hit free agency and Josh Jackson not given many opportunities of late. Outside of All-Pro Jaire Alexander, cornerback is a concern entering 2021.

While we can expect the Packers to address the position in the draft, it can take a few years for young cornerbacks to develop. It’s not an easy position to make a big impact at in your rookie season. If Green Bay aims to strengthen the secondary quickly, using free agency and the draft might be the way to go as it did at safety two years ago by signing Adrian Amos and drafting Darnell Savage.

If they make a big move at cornerback in free agency, Patrick Peterson could be a name to watch.

While Peterson didn’t have his best season with the Arizona Cardinals, he is still a very good player and a clear upgrade on King for the Packers. Peterson had eight pass defenses and three interceptions in 2020.

An eight-time Pro Bowler and three-time first-team All-Pro, Peterson can make an immediate impact in the Packers’ secondary while going for a Super Bowl ring. With Peterson and Alexander starting and an early-round pick used for the future, Green Bay could turn cornerback into a real strength.
