Even if Richard Rodgers never catches another pass in the NFL, he’ll forever be a hero in Green Bay. It was Rodgers who hauled in that Hail Mary pass as time expired in the Packers’ famous “Miracle in Motown” victory in 2015.

Aaron Rodgers has thrown some special Hail Mary passes in his career, but the connection with Richard Rodgers is hard to beat.

Rodgers was always known for his great hands so it was no surprise to see him make such a tough catch. During the 2014 season, Aaron Rodgers said it was possible Richard Rodgers had the best hands on the entire team. Consider that dominant offense featured Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb, and a rookie Davante Adams.

In four years with Green Bay, Rodgers proved to be reliable target in the passing game, putting up 1,166 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns. But he’s been unable to find a consistent role as a receiving tight end since then.

Rodgers signed with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2018. He only played in eight games between ’18 and ’19 but featured in 14 games in ’20, making 24 catches for 345 yards and two touchdowns.

Rodgers never became a star tight end but he made some important catches in Green Bay. After three seasons in Philadelphia, it’ll be interesting to see where he lands in 2021.
