2. Packers should strengthen defensive line

One area that still needs work is along the defensive line. It’s an area Green Bay has struggled in recent years, particularly against strong offensive lines, and it’s a key reason why the defense has allowed some big performances to running backs.

The Packers did address the defensive line in the draft, but not until the fifth round when they selected T.J. Slaton out of Florida. And they do already have players to build around with former Pro Bowler Kenny Clark and third-year Kingsley Keke.

But Brian Gutekunst should still look to add a free-agent defensive tackle over the summer, someone who can help strengthen the defensive line and also add some more experience to the defense.

The good news is that there are a number of talented, experienced defensive tackles still available. Two-time Pro Bowler Kawann Short is still a free agent, as well as eight-time Pro Bowler Geno Atkins.

The Minnesota Vikings recently signed Sheldon Richardson, which was a great move and the type of signing the Packers should look to make in the coming weeks. The Packers signed Damon Harrison late last season, which was a good move, and should bring in another veteran defensive tackle before the season gets underway.
