Equanimeous St. Brown

It’s never quite worked out for Equanimeous St. Brown with the Packers, and he now faces a ton of competition for a spot on Green Bay’s 53-man roster this summer.

St. Brown had a relatively quiet rookie season in 2018 with 21 catches for 328 yards, but there were some great moments in there. Plays that showed his potential for the future. But he missed all of the 2019 season due to injury and caught just seven passes in his return last year.

Cheesehead TV’s Aaron Nagler noted last week that St. Brown had made a “really nice start to camp”, so he’s certainly making a case for a spot on the 53-man roster.

The problem is competition. Since the end of last season, the Packers have got Devin Funchess back, then drafted Amari Rodgers in the third round and traded for Randall Cobb. Juwann Winfree has also had an excellent training camp and is aiming to secure a spot on the 53.

It doesn’t help that EQ is currently dealing with a hamstring injury, according to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky. Hopefully he’ll be healthy in time for the preseason, as that will present a huge opportunity for the wide receivers on the roster bubble to show what they can do.

With the top five at WR set and St. Brown competing with Funchess, Winfree, and Malik Taylor for the sixth spot, it won’t be easy to make the roster.
