Inside linebackers

1. Vikings

Former All-Pro and Pro Bowler Eric Kendricks is the key player in the middle of Mike Zimmer’s defense, and he’s one of the best at his position in the league. He will line up next to Anthony Barr, once he’s back from injury. The Vikings have a strong starting duo at inside linebacker, while 2020 fourth-round pick Troy Dye could be set for a big year. He had a pick-six in the preseason.

2. Bears

Roquan Smith was a second-team All-Pro last year and will be aiming for another big season in Chicago. Danny Trevathan struggled last season and could face some competition from new signing Alec Ogletree for a starting job.

3. Packers

There are plenty of questions for the Packers at inside linebacker, a position they haven’t invested early picks in all that often. Free-agent addition De’Vondre Campbell gives them a solid starter in the middle, but Green Bay also needs Krys Barnes to build on a promising rookie year. Oren Burks and Ty Summers are the top backups but have played mostly special teams in recent seasons.

4. Lions

As is the case across the entire defense for the Lions, there are some big questions to be answered. Detroit will be hoping Jamie Collins can have another good season after finishing 2020 with 101 tackles, three forced fumbles, and one interception.
