Week 18: Detroit Lions

While it’s possible the Packers could already have the one-seed wrapped up by Week 18, that shouldn’t be the expectation. In all likelihood, Green Bay will enter Ford Field in the final game of the season with the need for a victory to ensure the postseason runs through Lambeau.

We shouldn’t underestimate the Lions. After all, this team is coming off a blowout win over the Arizona Cardinals, and they also handed the Minnesota Vikings a defeat earlier in the year. They will fight in their final game of the season, make no mistake about it.

Matt LaFleur’s team has tended to start slowly in recent years versus Detroit. Maybe it’s a lack of concentration. Each time, they’ve bounced back to win.

While the Lions have put in some solid performances and won a couple of games, let’s not forget they have also lost 10 and tied another, while allowing 366 points in 14 games, second-most in the NFC and an average of 26 points per game.

The Packers will need to be ready to play in this one. The Lions will fight, especially in their final game at Ford Field this season. But there’s no doubt Green Bay is the better team and, with the top seed on the line, it gets the job done in Week 18.

Prediction: Green Bay 35, Detroit 24 (14-3)
