Ryan Fitzpatrick

Similarly, if head coach Matt LaFleur and general manager Brian Gutekunst decide that either Jordan Love isn’t ready in 2022, or they decide to move on with another rookie QB, they could look for a veteran to step in for a season.

That’s where Ryan Fitzpatrick can come in.

Soon, it will be easier to list the teams Fitzpatrick hasn’t played for. In recent years, he spent two seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, two with the Miami Dolphins, and most recently the Washington Football Team.

Fitzpatrick has only played one game for Washington this season due to injury. In his two years in Miami, Fitzpatrick threw for 5,620 yards and 33 touchdowns with 21 interceptions and a passer rating of 89.0. In the 20 games he started, the Dolphins won just under half of them.

Fitzpatrick is unlikely to lead the Packers to a Lombardi Trophy, but he’s an experienced quarterback who could come in and help the team for a season. It would give the Packers a veteran QB to start while either Jordan Love or another young QB develops with the plan to eventually start.

Like Winston, Fitzpatrick will be available in the offseason as he is set to become a free agent.

If Rodgers retires, who do you think the Packers should replace him with in 2022?
