Treylon Burks, WR, Arkansas

The Packers taking a wide receiver in the first round? I know, I know. I’ll believe it when I see it. But this year, they may need to even if they re-sign Davante Adams.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Equanimeous St. Brown, and Allen Lazard are set to hit free agency and Randall Cobb could be a cap casualty. Simply put, wide receiver will be a position of need regardless of whether Adams re-signs or Aaron Rodgers stays in Green Bay.

And if the Packers get the chance to draft Arkansas’ Treylon Burks, it might be too difficult an opportunity to pass up.

Lance Zierlein of NFL.com wrote that Burks “has the potential to star as a high-volume, three-level target who can start and produce in his rookie season”.

A good route-runner and excellent after the catch, there’s so much to like about Burks’ game and there’s little doubt he could make a big impact in the Packers’ offense. Playing opposite Davante Adams would provide plenty of one-on-one opportunities, and that’s bad news for defenses.

Burks’ draft stock may continue to rise in the coming weeks, taking him out of range for the Packers, but if he somehow falls far enough, he could be a home-run pick.
