Packers: 3 dream free-agent targets to go all-in for 2022
TE Rob Gronkowski
Rob Gronkowski has enjoyed a career of catching passes from Tom Brady. Now imagine his next quarterback is another all-time great and the back-to-back NFL MVP, Aaron Rodgers. At this stage, it’s unclear if Gronkowski intends to keep playing but if he does, there might not be a better landing spot than the Green Bay Packers.
Gronkowski showed that even after a year away from the game, he’s still one of the best receiving tight ends in the league when healthy. Gronk played in 28 regular-season games for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, catching 100 passes for 1,425 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Tight end could be a position of need for Green Bay this offseason.
Robert Tonyan, who is recovering from a torn ACL, is a free agent. Even if he’s back, it’s unclear when he will be able to return.
Gronkowski would give the Packers another excellent target in the passing game. With defenses focusing their attention on Davante Adams, Gronk could see a lot of targets in the middle of the field.
Signing Gronkowski truly would be an all-in move. You don’t sign the five-time Pro Bowler as part of a rebuild. You sign him to help win a championship now.
If Gronk wants to play in 2022, the Packers should give him a call.
