Jared Cook, TE

Jared Cook’s one season in Green Bay is best remembered for that sideline catch that helped eliminate the Dallas Cowboys in the divisional round as time expired. Overall, he had an up-and-down year with the Packers but showed his receiving ability.

Since then, Cook has spent time with the Las Vegas Raiders, New Orleans Saints, and Los Angeles Chargers, again providing value as a pass-catching tight end. Last season with the Chargers, he caught 48 passes for 564 yards and four touchdowns.

After Cook left Green Bay, the Packers found it difficult to replace him. They continued their tight end search until Robert Tonyan enjoyed a breakout season in 2020.

Is it likely the Packers will reunite with the 34-year-old tight end this offseason? Most likely not, although tight end could be a need with Tonyan hitting free agency.

Green Bay could do far worse than signing Cook to a cheap one-year deal, but it’s also unlikely to be a move that helps this offense take a big step forward. With limited cap space, the Packers would be best off looking elsewhere, most likely in the draft, if they are unable to agree a long-term deal with Tonyan.

No matter where Cook ends up playing in 2022, he’ll always be remembered for his incredible catch in the playoffs.
