Packers three-round mock draft following Davante Adams trade
Round 3 (92): Jalen Tolbert, WR, South Alabama
After going back-to-back-to-back with defensive picks, it’s time to refocus on the offense in the third round. With no Davante Adams, don’t be surprised if the Packers double-down at wide receiver in the opening two days of the draft.
In the first round, the Packers landed a huge target and dominant red-zone receiver in Drake London. Now they find a complement and add some much-needed speed to the offense.
South Alabama’s Jalen Tolbert could be the ideal replacement for Marquez Valdes-Scantling. With MVS hitting free agency, the Packers need a deep threat. Tolbert can provide that.
Keith Sanchez of The Draft Network wrote that “Tolbert has the speed to be a vertical threat and also has the strength and size to become a good run-after-catch receiver”.
Over the past two seasons at South Alabama, Tolbert caught 146 passes for 2,559 yards and 16 touchdowns.
It’s another deep wide receiver class and Tolbert could be a home-run addition to the Packers’ offense in the third round.
The Packers won’t replace Davante Adams’ production by simply adding one wide receiver, but if they can add a couple of talented pass catchers in the early rounds, along with signing a veteran in free agency, they can put together a strong receiving corps.
With London, Tolbert, and a veteran addition joining Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb, the Packers could enter 2022 with a deep and talented receiving group, even without Adams.
