Round 2 (41): Christian Watson, WR, North Dakota State

With only one pick in the first round, the opportunity to draft a receiver like Treylon Burks or Chris Olave is gone. However, with Christian Watson falling to the second round in this mock draft, jumping up ahead of the Indianapolis Colts and Atlanta Falcons was a must to have any hope of landing the North Dakota State wide receiver.

The trade-up isn’t a cheap one, with the Packers sending both of their fourth-round selections to the Seattle Seahawks. But if Watson lives up to his potential, it will be well worth it.

“Watson is everything the Packers need in a receiver. He’s big, fast, and versatile,” wrote Brandon Carwile of Packers Wire.

Daniel Jeremiah of NFL Network noted that Watson can become “one of the best pass-catchers in this class”.

There’s so much to love about his game. Athleticism? Check. Speed? Check. Good hands? Check. Route-running? Check.

Watson could force his way into the first round after impressing at the Senior Bowl and NFL Combine. If he falls into the second round, Brian Gutekunst should be on the phone ready to make a trade up.

After landing one of the best pass rushers in the class on Day 1, the Packers move up again to help fix their need at wide receiver.
