Coaching changes

Matt LaFleur was forced into some tough decisions regarding his coaching staff this offseason.

Offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, instrumental to the success of Green Bay’s offense under LaFleur, took a head-coaching job with the Denver Broncos.

His potential successor, Luke Getsy, also departed to become the Chicago Bears’ offensive coordinator. The chance to call plays in Chicago was too good to pass up, and not an opportunity he would’ve gotten by taking the same job in Green Bay.

LaFleur promoted Adam Stenavich to offensive coordinator. A deserved promotion for Stenavich, who had done a phenomenal job as offensive line coach and run game coordinator.

Jason Vrable was one of many Packers coaches to be promoted by LaFleur. He becomes the new passing game coordinator.

One of LaFleur’s biggest decisions was to replace special teams coordinator Maurice Drayton with Rich Bisaccia.

Bisaccia is one of the most experienced special teams coaches in the NFL and should make an immediate impact for the league’s worst special teams unit.

LaFleur had tough decisions to make with key offensive assistants departing while also recognizing the need for change on special teams.

Losing Hackett and Getsy hurts Green Bay, no doubt, but LaFleur has done a great job of filling the vacancies. The hire of Bisaccia could prove to be a great decision.
