2. Packers have league’s No. 1 defense

The Packers’ defense has all the ingredients to be one of the league’s best units. If everything comes together, ranking No. 1 in the NFL isn’t out of the realm of possibility.

From top to bottom, the Packers’ starting defense is loaded with talent. When looking at the starting lineup alone, there aren’t many weaknesses to Joe Barry’s unit.

Along the defensive line, the Packers are led by Pro Bowler Kenny Clark. He has consistently been one of the top defensive tackles in the NFL in recent years. He is now joined by first-round pick Devonte Wyatt and free-agent addition Jarran Reed, while Dean Lowry had his best season in 2021.

Rashan Gary has become one of the best young edge rushers in football, and he will again start opposite Preston Smith.

At inside linebacker, De’Vondre Campbell returns after being named a first-team All-Pro in 2021, and he is joined by first-round pick Quay Walker.

And perhaps the best comes last — the secondary.

Pro Football Focus recently ranked the top 32 cornerbacks in the NFL. The Packers are the only team with three corners on the list. Jaire Alexander is ranked No. 2.

Alexander is an All-Pro. Eric Stokes is a first-round pick coming off a great rookie year. Rasul Douglas was outstanding last season with a team-best five interceptions.

Green Bay not only has great talent at cornerback, but also safety with starters Adrian Amos and Darnell Savage.

On paper, this is a great defense. If they can put it all together in 2022, look out.
