Packers: 3 pleasant surprises from opening week of training camp

1. WR Romeo Doubs
No player has had as good a week as rookie wide receiver Romeo Doubs. He couldn’t have dreamed of a better start to his first training camp in the NFL.
The Packers need their rookie receivers to quickly get up to speed and build a connection with Aaron Rodgers. Second-round pick Christian Watson is currently dealing with an injury, but fourth-rounder Doubs has made the most of his opportunities so far.

Doubs and Gary take home the honors today.
While Doubs has been impressive on the field, his work ethic off it is also great. Doubs spoke about the importance of preparation and not getting carried away.
“Whatever happened today, for me, it’s kind of out the way,” said Doubs. “I’m glad it happened. I know I made some great grabs. But just being a team player, I just make sure I continue to be that person, just growing as an individual and growing as a teammate.”
Head coach Matt LaFleur also had praise for the rookie receiver.
LaFleur on Romeo Doubs: "Romeo is one of the first guys in the building. ... He's already kind of established a routine for himself, which something a lot of rookies have a hard time finding. Once they do, they can really take off." #Packers

There’s still a long way to go before Doubs earns a significant role in the Packers’ offense, but he has made the perfect start.
Both on the field and off of it, Doubs has been impressive.
He has already shown his potential and how he can help this offense.
