4. RB Tyler Goodson

Opportunity. That’s what awaits undrafted rookie Tyler Goodson this week.

Running backs Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon are unlikely to feature in the preseason opener. Kylin Hill is still recovering from a torn ACL, while Patrick Taylor has missed recent practices due to injury.

It could be the Tyler Goodson Show versus the 49ers this week.

Goodson has been impressive so far this summer. We have regularly seen tweets from reporters like this one from Andy Herman:

Goodson has impressed throughout training camp, showing his ability as a runner and receiver. There is an opening at the RB3 spot while Kylin Hill is out, and Goodson has every chance of making it his.

The way Goodson has played so far, there’s no guarantee Hill will walk back into the RB3 job when he’s healthy. By impressing in the preseason, Goodson can go a way to securing the top backup job behind starters Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon.

There should be plenty of carries on offer in the Packers’ opening preseason game versus the 49ers, and it presents a huge opportunity for Goodson. He has been impressive on the practice field. Can he now put together a strong performance at Levi’s Stadium on Friday night?
