Jack Heflin

The Packers need to keep six defensive linemen on the roster, and Jack Heflin should be one of them.

Joe Barry’s defense is incredibly deep along the defensive line with Pro Bowler Kenny Clark, Jarran Reed, and Dean Lowry as the starters. T.J. Slaton has impressed this summer, and the Packers also added first-round pick Devonte Wyatt this year.

Don’t forget about Heflin, either.

Heflin made one of the plays of the game versus the Chiefs, shutting down a rushing attempt on fourth-and-1.

Heflin made 10 tackles and two tackles for loss in three preseason games. He was one of the Packers’ best defensive players throughout the preseason.

Even with all of their defensive line depth, it will be hard not to keep Heflin on the 53-man roster. He has played at a high level this summer. He is absolutely one of the Packers’ top 53 players.

In the coming days, general manager Brian Gutekunst has some difficult decisions to make to get the roster down to 53 players. Fortunately, Heflin has helped him out by making one decision very easy.

Heflin should be part of the roster. The Packers need to find room to ensure he is the sixth defensive lineman on the initial 53.
