Packers: Reviewing each draft pick after the preseason
The Green Bay Packers could get some key contributions from their rookie class in the 2022 season.
With the preseason complete, only two weeks remain before the return of the regular season.
Here’s a preseason review for each of Green Bay’s draft picks.
ILB Quay Walker
Walker looks ready to start in the NFL. He made seven tackles in the preseason. He showed off his speed and ability to quickly read the game. Walker is ready to go as a starter.
DT Devonte Wyatt
It was a quiet preseason for Wyatt. We saw some encouraging moments, but he was also getting pushed around too often. Wyatt needs some time to develop.
WR Christian Watson
Watson didn’t play in the preseason due to a knee injury, but he looks set to play in Week 1 versus the Minnesota Vikings.
OL Sean Rhyan
Rhyan has struggled to make much of an impact so far, but there’s no doubt he’ll make the team. He will begin the season as a backup and needs some time.
WR Romeo Doubs
The star of the preseason for the Packers, Doubs could become a starter in his rookie season. He did have some frustrating drops, but he also made some incredible catches and showed off his ability to gain separation. Doubs caught two touchdowns in the preseason.
OL Zach Tom
It’s far too early to say, but Tom could become a star for the Packers. He can play all five positions and dominated in the preseason. He is already one of the Packers’ top five offensive linemen and deserves to be a starter, regardless of position.
EDGE Kingsley Enagbare
Enagbare made a slow start to the summer but saved his best football for the preseason. He made a sack, tackle for loss, and two quarterback hits in the preseason opener.
While he didn’t have another sack in the final two games, he came close on many occasions. According to Pro Football Focus, he had two pressures versus the New Orleans Saints.
S Tariq Carpenter
Injury limited Carpenter to just one preseason game, but he tackled well and showed he could play on special teams. That will help his chances of making the roster.
DT Jonathan Ford
Ford had a solid preseason but may struggle to make the Packers’ 53-man roster given their depth at defensive tackle. The Packers will likely hope he clears waivers so they can sign him to the practice squad.
OL Rasheed Walker
Walker was having a quiet summer until the final preseason game. According to Pro Football Focus, he didn’t allow a pressure in that game. Will it be enough for a roster spot, or will the Packers hope to bring Walker back to the practice squad?
WR Samori Toure
Toure has made plays all summer and could have a spot on the 53. He was excellent in the final preseason game, leading Green Bay in receiving with six catches for 83 yards. It likely comes down to Toure and Juwann Winfree for the final wide receiver spot.
