5 bold predictions for Green Bay Packers in 2022 season
2. Rasul Douglas leads the NFL in interceptions
It’s no surprise, then, that we continue with defense here.
Rasul Douglas proved to be one of the best in-season signings made by any team last year.
Not only did Douglas make a team-best five interceptions in only 12 games with nine starts, but he also had pick-sixes against the Los Angeles Rams and Chicago Bears, as well as game-winning picks against the Arizona Cardinals and Cleveland Browns.
Per Pro Football Reference, quarterbacks completed only half of their passes with a rating of just 44.5 when throwing in Douglas’ coverage.
Douglas could have another big season in 2022. Quarterbacks are going to have a hard time throwing against this secondary. Jaire Alexander is a shutdown corner, while Eric Stokes showed Pro Bowl potential as a rookie.
However, quarterbacks learned the hard way what happens when they target Douglas too often.
With a dominant front seven and an excellent secondary, we could see a lot of rushed throws from quarterbacks against the Packers. That’s good news for Douglas, who has shown his ability to make interceptions and return them the distance.
Another great season could be ahead for Douglas, and I predict he will lead the league in interceptions this year. It won’t come as a surprise if he improves on his five from 2021.
