Preston Smith dominates

While most of the attention often goes to Rashan Gary, and understandably so, don’t forget about Preston Smith. The veteran pass rusher produced one of his finest performances for the Packers as he dominated the Bears’ offensive line.

Smith led the Packers in tackles with seven, and he also had two sacks, two tackles for loss, and three quarterback hits. According to Pro Football Focus, he had five pressures in the game.

Green Bay’s defense has so many game-changers. Smith is one of them. It was his night on Sunday, and he helped shut down the Bears’ passing attack on numerous occasions.

Smith also played his part in run defense, another strength of his game.

It has been an excellent start to 2022 for Smith, who also impressed in the season opener against the Vikings. According to Pro Football Reference, he made three pressures, one hurry, and two quarterback knockdowns versus Minnesota last week.

The Packers will need contributions across the board for their defense to live up to its potential this season. Smith has a huge role to play, and he has begun the season in style.

Green Bay’s defense had its way on Sunday night, and Smith was one of the main reasons why.
