Packers: 3 bold predictions for Week 5 matchup vs. Giants
Romeo Doubs catches two touchdowns
I predicted two touchdowns for Romeo Doubs last week, and it so nearly came true. Doubs had one touchdown and almost had another, losing control of the football in the end zone as he hit the ground.
But it’s clear the rookie receiver is gaining Aaron Rodgers’ trust. Rodgers looked Doubs’ way twice in overtime and had no hesitation to throw to him in the red zone.
And while there have been some mistakes along the way, Doubs leads the Packers in receiving through four weeks with 19 receptions, 184 yards, and two touchdowns.
The opportunities will keep coming for the fourth-round pick, who has a team-high 24 targets this season.
Doubs has shown his ability to score. He caught two touchdowns in the preseason and already has two in the regular season. Had he completed the catch against the Patriots, his tally would be up to three. Doubs had done the hard part, beating his defender, gaining separation, and bringing in the ball. He just couldn’t hold on after hitting the ground.
If the Packers lean on the run, opportunities in the passing game will open up. And when they get down in the red zone, the Rodgers-to-Doubs connection could be an important one.
After coming close last week, Doubs puts it right in London with two touchdown catches.
