1. Tight end

Josiah Deguara — that’s the list of tight ends under contract in 2023.

Robert Tonyan and Marcedes Lewis are unrestricted free agents in the spring, while Tyler Davis is a restricted free agent.

Perhaps the Packers will bring Tonyan back on a new deal, but he may get a better offer elsewhere. Lewis turns 39 in May, so there’s no guarantee he will be back, either.

When was the last time the Packers had a game-changer at the tight end position? It has been a while.

Green Bay has had some dominant wide receivers in recent years, but who was the last tight end like Travis Kelce, George Kittle, or Darren Waller to catch passes from Aaron Rodgers?

It has been a position the Packers have tried, and failed, to address on many occasions.

They signed Jimmy Graham, Jared Cook, Martellus Bennett, and Lance Kendricks. They drafted Jace Sternberger and Deguara.

Tonyan had a great 2020 season and has been a solid target in the passing game since, but he’s struggled to recapture his form from two years ago.

With Tonyan and Lewis potentially gone in free agency, tight end looks to be Green Bay’s number one need entering the 2023 offseason.
