Grading Packers’ 2022 draft: Round 2

WR Christian Watson: A

Wow. Christian Watson made a slow start, in part due to bad luck with injuries dating back to training camp.

Now fully healthy, Watson is showing exactly why the Packers traded up in the second round to draft him. With his rare combination of athleticism and speed, Watson can make even great defenders look bad when he has the ball in his hands.

Since Week 9, Watson has 362 total yards and eight touchdowns. He has put his name in the conversation for the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award.

Watson has gained Aaron Rodgers’ trust and the four-time MVP continues to look his way at crucial moments. That included on a fourth-and-4 against the Chicago Bears last week. Rodgers had no worries throwing to Watson on a must-have play, and the rookie receiver made a nice catch for a 14-yard touchdown.

Growing in confidence and showing his potential, Watson has become a game-changing addition to Green Bay’s offense.

The exciting part is that this is only the beginning. Watson has rare athleticism and he is one of the fastest receivers in the league.

Get the ball in his hands and he can do the rest. The Packers may have found a superstar in the second round.
