Ranking Packers’ four possible playoff opponents in wild-card round
2. Philadelphia Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles remain in pole position to take the No. 1 seed, which would give them a bye in the first round of the playoffs. But after two straight defeats, they could still fall to the No. 2 seed.
If the San Francisco 49ers win and Philadelphia and Dallas both lose, the seventh seed would travel to the second-seed Eagles next week. That would be the Packers if they can beat the Lions.
The Packers would need to be far better than their previous road matchup against the Eagles, when they allowed 363 rushing yards and three touchdowns in a 40-33 loss.
However, the Packers haven’t lost since then, and they have improved dramatically on defense.
With star quarterback Jalen Hurts injured, the Eagles have lost some momentum. If they fall to the No. 2 seed, it means they would enter the playoffs on the back of three consecutive defeats. The Packers, meanwhile, would’ve won five straight.
But if Hurts is back, the Eagles can quickly get back to their dominant best. They have held the NFL’s best record for most of the year for a reason.
Philadelphia’s offense dominated Green Bay’s defense earlier this season and would provide another huge challenge for Joe Barry’s unit in a potential rematch.
