Vegas Vipers

The Vegas Vipers probably have the most prominent former Packers in the XFL in QB Brett Hundley and WR Geronimo Allison. In addition, former Packers S Marwin Evans and FB John Lovett play for the Vipers.

Although Hundley started the XFL season as the Vipers’ backup quarterback, it has been reported that he is currently the league’s highest-paid player, with an annual salary of about $200,000.

The Packers selected Hundley in the fifth round, with the 147th overall pick, of the 2015 NFL Draft. In the 2017 season, when Aaron Rodgers suffered a significant collarbone injury, Hundley started in nine games for the team, compiling a 3-6 record.

Although Hundley showed some flashes when pressed into game action, he ultimately struggled with accuracy and decision making. He finished the season with a 60.8 completion percentage, along with 1,836 passing yards, nine touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Before the 2018 season, Hundley was traded to the Seahawks for a sixth-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. He later had stints with the Cardinals, Colts, Saints, and Ravens.

Meanwhile, Geronimo Allison is definitely one of the most notably former Packers now playing in the XFL. Allison played in 46 games, with 14 starts, between 2016 and 2019, recording 89 receptions for 1,045 yards and six touchdowns.

After making a strong NFL debut in Week 8 of the 2017 season against the Falcons, Allison continued to provide strong possession skills in a complementary receiver role for the team.

Moreover, safety Marwin Evans played in 32 games for the Packers across the 2016 and 2017 seasons, registering 29 total tackles and one forced fumble. Fullback/tight end John Lovett played in three games for the Packers in 2020 before he was released in March 2021 following a torn ACL in November.

Vipers’ defensive backs coach Darren Perry also served as the Packers safeties coach from 2009-2017.
