AJ Dillon gets honest about Packers future entering uncertain offseason

Well, now I'm sad.

Considering how good the Packers' run game was this season, it's kind of wild to think about what it would have looked like with AJ Dillon. Dillon missed the last three games of the 2023 season after suffering a stinger, and then was put on IR during training camp after suffering another during joint practices.

And while Dillon insists that he's totally healthy and preparing for a full workload in 2026, Jacobs' success – and the Packers' running back depth behind him – sorrrrrrrta foreshadowed the end of Dillon's time in Green Bay. He'll be an unrestricted free agent when the new league year begins in March, and there just doesn't look like there's a spot for him on the Packers' roster next season. When talking with local media after the Packers' season ended, Dillon hinted – more or less – that he knows his time in Green Bay has come to an end.

AJ Dillon sounds like a guy who may not be back in Green Bay next season

"The time in Green Bay that I've had thus far has been amazing," Dillon said. "I've got some great friends, my family. My wife learned how to drive in the parking lot outside. Started my foundation, had my son. My entire adult life has been in Green Bay. So definitely it means a lot. This will be somewhere I'll have affiliation with, and care about forever. The people. There's a lot of things still left that I want to be able to do and give back to certain communities here. So I'll continue to do that regardless of anything."

It's getting awfully dusty in here. Dillon has been a beloved figure in Green Bay ever since being drafted out of Boston College in the second round of the 2020 draft, putting up almost 2500 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns in 60 games. But between the current roster and Dillon's year long decline in production, the writing's pretty clearly on the wall. We just can't see it through the dust in our eyes.
